“Mistakes can range from minor to serious, causing dermatitis or other forms of allergic conditions and skin disasters,” explains. Ava Shamban, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in Beverly Hills. “Our skin is the largest organ, working best to prevent pathogens, [retain] strong skin barrier function and balance our microbiome.” Unfortunately, Shamban says we often unwittingly resist it, which can make matters worse in the long run. “There are a lot of mistakes people make when it comes to skincare, maintenance and daily routines going on,” she says.
