Destiny 2 Season 17 will improve glaives and Exotics

Bungie has launched one of the The biggest Fate 2-focused blogs in recent memory on Thursday. In nearly 9,000 words, the studio described some of the major weapon updates coming to their MMO on May 24, with the start of the currently unnamed season 17.

There are too many minutes Fate 2 changes to describe here, so we’ll break down two of the biggest changes that will have the biggest impact on players: the glaive and Exotic changes.

Glory is weak since Bungie released them with Witch Queen expansion in February. While interesting, they did not perform well at any difficult content. So Bungie is fixing that with some major updates.

First, Bungie made his intentions clear. Glaive melees should contribute to damage perks and act like a standard melee. So a melee kill with glaive will trigger the Swashbuckler perk, but only the ranged attack will get the damage boost from the perks. That is the current plan, at least.

As for the specific improvements, next season’s PvE enemies will take 25% more damage from meleves and the shield will consume 30% less mana than before. All projectile speed will also change according to the range stat, moving much faster than before. This will help them perform better in premium content, allowing players to use them as defensive tools and still have a good punch.

Moving on to Exotics, Bungie is making big improvements to Exotic glaives. The Edge of Action Titan’s sparkling mini-bubble will provide all players inside a Void shield and will benefit from the Helm of Saint-14 Exotic effect, which blinds targets inside the shield. Edge of Intent Warlock Exotic glaive’s healing tower will gain speed and acceleration. The Edge of Concainst Exotic Hunter glaive’s damage is being tripled and it can now chain to eight enemies instead of four.

Many of these changes are simple buffs or nerfs to deal damage, but a few of them are getting a pretty big rework.

Leviathan’s Breath, one of the worst Exotics in the game, is getting a 50% increase in damage. It now also splits the damage on detonation and impact, allowing it to stun an Unstoppable champion and then damage it for the duration of the stun. Its goal is to destroy unstoppable Champions in premium content, and this update looks promising.

Eyes of Tomorrow, the Exotic raid from the Deep Stone Crypt, is getting a 30% increase in boss and champion damage. On the other hand, Arbalest will deal 25% less damage to champions due to its power in Grandmaster Nightfalls. Graviton Lance’s Catalyst will now give players a Vorpal Weapon and Turnabout instead of a Hidden Hand. Grand Overture will be able to fire off a salvo of rockets by holding down the trigger, or fire in five rocket explosions with a single press of the trigger button.

The Skyburner Oath reconnaissance rifle is also receiving some significant improvements. The targeted shot is now a hitscan (meaning it hits an enemy instantly) and both modes of the gun fire at a rate of 150 shots per minute. The hip fire attack will no longer track enemies, but the shots will explode in a wider radius and burn enemies. Guns now have increased range and Masterwork has increased reload speed.

The game’s first three Exotic tracking rifles will also be remade – in addition to a 20% increase in the rifle’s damage against non-red bar enemies. Coldheart now creates Ionic Traces when dealing damage, granting magical energy. Prometheus Lens will apply a “more useful burning effect,” which is a bit confusing, but may make more sense when Bungie eventually updates the Sun sublayers. The transmitter no longer oscillates between the three power levels, and is always on the medium setting instead. However, picking up a Power Orb will allow 10 seconds (up to 20) to revert it to the old “max power” setting, which will also suppress the target.
