Details about Ubisoft New Rainbow Six Siege Season Operation Brutal Swarm

Rainbow Six SiegeThe latest installment of Brutal Swarm, has just been announced by Ubisoft and has a lot of news to analyze starting with a new operator.

Grim, the latest addition to Siege’s ever-expanding roster, hails from Singapore and joins the game as an Attacker. He carries the Kawan Hive Launcher, a shoulder-worn launcher that can launch a swarm of bee-shaped nanorobots that mark anyone who walks past them. The box they enter will stick to the surface it’s launched from, and if you’re tagged by Grim’s swarm, attackers will be able to track you down. Grim will also be a low-health, high-speed attacker (often referred to as the “three speed, one health” controller), and because of that structure, he’ll pack the 552 Commando assault rifle as well as the SG- CQB Pistol for the main options.

Attackers throughout the game will also be able to take advantage of the new Impact EMP Grenade, which will give them quicker options to disable enemy gadgets in what could be one-sided situations. The operators that will be able to use it are:

  • Black beard
  • Montagne
  • Dokkaebi
  • Nokk
  • Gridlock
  • Sleigh
  • Lion
  • Osa
  • Recruit

Some operators will also get official changes to breathe new life into some stagnant kits. For example, players who are killed while wearing additional armor from Rook, will be able to gain 20 more health themselves. Dokkaebi’s Logic Bomb add-on is also being tweaked and will not be disrupted.

Ubisoft is also bringing the Stadium map back to 2021, which was previously only featured in the game as part of a limited event leading up to the Siege Invitationals, the premier Siege tournament in the world. It will be reintroduced with some tweaks under the name Stadium Bravo, a combination of Border and Coastline, and will be a permanent addition to the map pool.

The map ban phase will also show five maps instead of three to promote more map diversity and allow more maps to be maintained in groups. The Tactical Map will also be tweaked, now giving Attackers more information to make decisions. They will be able to see the Guardian’s available target locations and the floor and target map will show when the Attacker finds them.

On a more systemic level, Ubisoft is tweaking how recoil works on both PC and console. Most importantly, the two will now be distinct, as console balancing used to be done according to the values on the PC. This will help different player bases go through adjustments tailored to their player experience. On PC, Ubisoft has adjusted recoil values to now reflect weapon power levels, and increased vertical and horizontal recoil on continuous fire to make shooting the preferred method of combat. More weapon attachments are coming to more weapons that are being affected by these changes (especially LMGs) to better encourage load customization and tension tactical adjustments. While the recoil will remain the same on consoles, the expanded weapon attachments will come to both consoles and PCs.

Ubisoft will also introduce additional penalties for players who abuse after implementing Reputation penalties last season. If a player sends loads of hostile messages in a text chat, they will be effectively muted. While they can still send and receive messages in the chat, the player won’t be able to see them unless the penalized player is not muted. There will be a grace period when the feature launches at the end of the season so players can get used to it, but when that time is up, players who receive the penalty will be muted for 30 games.

Starting this season, players will be able to gift battle cards to friends as long as they’ve been friends via Ubisoft Connect for longer than 90 days and are on the same platform. In addition, with the arrival of a new season and operators, prices for previous operators will decrease accordingly:

  • Osa will now cost 20,000 Renown or 480 R6 credits.
  • Zero will now cost 15,000 Renown or 360 R6 credits.
  • Amaru and Goyo will now cost 10,000 Renown or 240 R6 credits.

Finally, the Torrid Jungle Bundle will be offered as a seasonal weapon skin, and purchasing it will earn players the Weathered Partner skin for both their weapons and accessories. In addition, this pack also has the smell of Durian.
