Details of Mazda CX-90 2024 . inline 6-cylinder engine
The Mazda CX-90 Three-row luxury SUV will dethrone CX-60 The plug-in hybrid is the brand’s most powerful road car ever after it debuted on February 1.
Mazda has confirmed the CX-90 will be available with a “specifically revised” version of the Gasoline engine ‘e-Skyactiv’ 6 cylinders in line, turbocharged, 3.3 liters capacity it’s set to debut in the relevant CX-60.
The in-line six-cylinder petrol engine in the CX-90 is tuned for production 254kW power and 500Nm of torque. This is 45kW and 50Nm more than the CX-60 powered by inline six-cylinder petrol.
The engine will come with a 48V mild-hybrid system, with drive being sent through a rear-biased all-wheel drive system. It is expected that this engine will be combined with the 8-speed automatic transmission of the CX-60.
Besides the inline six-cylinder petrol engine, Mazda’s US division previously teased the CX-90 with its ‘e-Skyactiv’ PHEV powertrain.
It is expected to be a version of the CX-60’s PHEV powertrain, which includes a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, an electric motor and a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The total output power of the system is 241kW and 500Nm.
It is not yet clear whether the CX-90 will be available with a 3.3-liter turbo-diesel version of the CX-60 in markets such as Australia.
Mazda has confirmed the entire CX-90 lineup will come standard with the Kinematic Posture Control (KPC) system that debuted in MX-5 sport car.
In the MX-5, this KPC system is integrated into the suspension and can generate anti-lift at the rear by braking the rear rear wheel inside during cornering with a higher G-force, thereby reducing roll and thrust. Car body down more stable Position.
In the CX-90, the KPC system is present to “help maintain Mazda’s signature driving dynamics”.
In addition to these confirmed details, Mazda showed off another teaser image of the CX-90 that shows part of the front three-quarter configuration, as well as the signature LED headlights. It all looks very similar to the CX-60.
Like previous report, the Mazda CX-90 is confirmed to launch locally later this year and will take first place in the brand’s SUV lineup. It is expected to be Mazda’s answer to vehicles like VolvoXC90.
The CX-90 will be based on the brand’s Large Architecture – which also underpins the CX-60 – and will offer three rows of seats. Think of it as the big brother of the two-row CX-60 which will also launch in Australia in 2023 (around June).
In terms of performance, technology, interior design and finish as well as price, the CX-60 and CX-90 enter new corporate territory – unless you count the brief Eunos experiment we describe here.
Just like the CX-60, expect the CX-90 to go through (or perhaps it did) to some extent. Tested and adjusted in Australia for local conditions.
When the CX-60 and CX-90 arrive in Australia, Mazda will have a messy lineup of SUVs, including compact ones. CX-3, CX-30and MX-30medium size CX-5and seven seats CX-8 and CX-9.
However, the company is second on the sales charts behind Toyota here and therefore has a large audience, said they want to offer SUV buyers The “more choices” the better.
We recently asked Vinesh Bhindi, managing director of Mazda Australia, about the CX-60’s demographic breakdowns, to better understand who the vehicle is for and how this same logic could easily apply. for the larger CX-90.
“As a business, it gives us the opportunity to expand the range of our product offering and possibly even attract customers who have not previously considered us,” he said.
“But more importantly, it really gives our fan base an option before they leave us, because their status in life has reached a point where they can direct more to ultra-luxury brands, right?
“…Our strategy has been around for a long time that we want the customer to decide and if Mazda Corporation is making something and that type of vehicle is available to us and makes business sense, then we will. provide that option to Australian consumers.”
