DeVon Franklin is providing the setting for one of his recent relationship mentoring gigs. Less than a year after filing for divorce from Meagan Good, DeVon will premiere on season 15 of ‘Married At First Sight’ this summer. He plans to use what he’s learned from love to help other couples succeed in their marriages as an expert on the show. On Friday, he took to Instagram with a lengthy post detailing why he decided to go ahead with the opportunity.
Based on Perfume, DeVon is one of two faces replacing longtime series expert Dr. Viviana Coles. He was invited to appear on the show last year and he agreed. However, this happened before filing for divorce in December 2021. In addition to a joint statement, DeVon and Meagan haven’t talked much about the breakdown of their marriage.
“After much prayer and deliberation, we have decided to go into our future separately but forever connected,” the former couple shared in the statement. “We celebrate almost a decade of marriage together and a love that lasts forever. No one is to blame, we believe this is the next best chapter in our love evolution.”
More than a month after the announcement, Meagan called the divorce “the most painful thing” she’s been through.
On Friday, DeVon revealed program executives were not particularly interested in applying. They still believe he can “help their couples.” However, relationship counselors almost say no.
“I was going to tell them ‘no’ because I felt embarrassed and that voice in my head said, ‘you are a failure, how can you help someone save their marriage when life goes wrong? your marriage failed.’ That voice in my head also got me thinking about what ‘everyone’ would say? Will ‘everyone’ approve or disapprove? And then I had to ask myself: Is this how I’m going to live the rest of my life? Scared of what ‘people’ say? And who is ‘everyone’? So I went back to the @mafslifetime group and told them YES, I will still come. I DON’T HAVE TO LIVE IN FEAR OR FEAR! ”
According to DeVon, his decision led to a “robust” outcome. He was able to help at least one of the couples with their marital problems.
“All I have been through, I can draw on to help a couple successfully solve their problems…,” DeVon wrote. “A lot of times that voice in our heads is our worst enemy. It tries to tell us out of what God is trying to convince us. “
He closed his Insta testimony by saying that he intends to live in the truth, in the hope that it will help the next person.
“I have tried to get through this life perfectly and without fail, now I am just living to get through it honestly and if what I have learned about love and relationships can If it helps someone, I’m here for it.”
