“Didn’t see how it was a viable business”

As LIV Golf’s struggle with the PGA Tour continues, US PGA head Seth Waugh has now appeared to beat the breakaway series. Waugh, a board member of the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR), called the LIV’s system ‘flawed’. The PGA CEO says that the Saudi-backed series does not have a viable business model.

Waugh warns the tour led by Greg Norman could ‘burn’ money and it doesn’t make any sense. The PGA head pointed out that the series is hardly a profitable business even though the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund (PIF) has spent more than $2 billion running it. Although the Saudis who backed the tour are known for their huge fortunes, Waugh claims it’s pointless for people to pin their hopes on the franchise business model.

Speaking to The Times in an interview, the head of the PGA of America Seth Waugh speak:

“Their logic of team play is something important that people can understand I think is lacking. I don’t think people really care about it. And I don’t understand how it’s a viable business model… They can fund it for as long as they like, but no matter how much money you have, at some point it’s burned. it’s not very good either. I don’t see them achieving much.”

Explaining his stance further, Waugh said that the only way LIV Golf could float was to find a way to settle with PGA . Tournament.

He added:

“To me, it seems logical that you will work to reach some agreement. I hope the game gets back together in some form.”

Waugh says OWGR decision may take time for LIV Golf

It is appropriate to note that one of the LIV GolfHis most painful struggle was to win OWGR points. The breakaway series is continuing to struggle to be recognized by the world body control charts.

Seth Waugh, a member of the OWGR board, expressed a similar view and said that LIV may take more time to receive a response in their case. Calling it a “slow process,” the PGA chief said there could be no decision before 2024.

Waugh says:

“There are some parts of their structure that can be solved mathematically, but there may be some fundamental parts that are more difficult. There is potential conflict with the team aspect and then access – how do you get relegated and promoted? They received our latest response a few weeks ago and we have not received a response yet. They made a bad assumption that this would be a quick process. It has never been. Each application has taken over a year as far as I know.

Waugh added that he believes the two competing tournaments – the PGA Tour and LIV Golf – can find common ground and work together in the future.
