Director Ridley Scott Blames Millennials For The Last Duel Flop
Academy Award Nominee Director Ridley Scott assuming he knows why his latest project, Last match, was unable to compete with its competitors at the box office.
The famous director addressed the drama’s less than ideal sales numbers in the latest episode of Marc Maron‘NS WTF audio file. Despite receiving warm reviews from critics, Last match—A movie released in mid-October starring the main actor Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Jodie Comer—Graduated only $28 million against a production budget of $100 million.
“Disney did a great job promoting it,” Scott said of the film’s production studio, adding that “the bosses loved the movie… I was concerned it wasn’t for them.”
According to Ridley, there may be a particular generation that could be responsible for the absence in sales. “I think it boils down to something,” he said. “What we have today [are] the audience was brought up these f-king mobile phones. Millennium [sic] never want to be taught anything unless you are told on a cell phone. “
