Disruptive White House Reporter Simon Ateba Makes Bizarre Karine Jean-Pierre Comment

Simon Ateba, White House correspondent for Today News Africa and a regular thorn in the side of White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, was beaten across his disruptive appearance on monday in the meeting room into a friendly interview on Tucker Carlson tonight in which he makes an odd remark about having a baby with Jean-Pierre.

Ateba, who repeatedly raged at Jean-Pierre for not calling him within what he claimed was “seven months”, argued that the First Amendment justified his anger.

“The First Amendment says I have the right to ask questions – to do my job,” he told Carlson, though that certainly doesn’t mean the White House press secretary has to answer all of them. reporters’ questions or calling people in the press conference. room, no matter how persistent they are.

Ateba then makes things a little personal and awkward.

“The press secretary doesn’t have to like me, date me, marry me, have two unlucky children with me. She doesn’t need all that,” Ateba said, amusing Carlson. “She doesn’t even need to like my voice—not even to like my looks [or] where do i come from. They despise me. They don’t respect the First Amendment.”

Ateba compared his situation to CNN reporter Jim Acosta, who sometimes make headlines to call members of the Trump administration—that administration labeled the press as “the enemy of the people.” (The Biden administration has not been so smeared.)

“When it happened to CNN’s Jim Acosta—because they respected him, he was white. [and] he works for CNN. I’m black, I’m African, [and] I have no money,” he said. “They don’t treat me like that.”

Carlson was sympathetic and did not pass up the opportunity to criticize media that was not his. What angered him was that other reporters in the conference room asked Ateba to shut up and express his displeasure privately.

“In fact [Reuters White House Correspondent] “Jeff Mason and the rest – who should be ashamed of themselves – siding with the White House against you is really one of the worst things I’ve ever seen,” Carlson said. “I was shocked by this, as I was skeptical.”
