Are from our review:

Like the other movies in the bad girl high school division, Revenge focuses on complex social conspiracies and pervasive evil factions. But it’s not derivative or cliche: Instead, it’s the natural evolution of this kind of movie for 2022. Some parts of high school are constant, but teen culture is evolving rapidly. fast, so teen movies – especially those that adapt or pay homage to people who are older than material – at risk of feeling out of date. Revenge dodge that curse because of the way Robinson and co-writer Celeste Ballard intelligently update certain plot points.

Based on the 1994 book by AS Byatt Djinn in nightingale’s eyesGeorge Miller’s Three thousand years of longing focuses on Dr. Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton), a mythological and narrative scholar who inexplicably retrieves a Djinn (Idris Elba) from a bottle he has imprisoned for a hundred past year. Bound to Alithea until he grants her three wishes, Djinn tells her three stories during his three thousand years of captivity, each telling a tale of loss, longing , betrayal and love.

Are from our review:

There are movies that change the nature of the air you breathe after watching them, as a motif from its score repeats in one’s mind and the colors of the world outside the cinema are not perfect. Exactly like what you see on screen. Three thousand years of longing is one of those movies, the story of stories – a lousy genre that tends to take themselves too seriously – that aren’t just concerned with their magic as a uniting, cloning force. They are stronger than that. More dangerous than that. And it turns out that there are fewer satisfying ways to discover this than watching two people who believe they know all there is to know about stories trying to guess how this story ends.

BJ Novak brings this podcast-style mystery to the big screen in his directorial debut, as a New York-based journalist who travels to Texas to investigate a disappearance.

Are from our review:

The series periodically reminds audiences that yes, guns and fast food are a major part of the life of the Texas mob in America. The fact that Ben himself is self-conscious about his potential on the East Coast adds another layer – and the fact that he’s involved in it anyway. But those extra layers don’t necessarily enrich the movie-watching experience. Final, Retribution It’s starting to feel a bit like a distorted meme, following the pipeline of a talented homicide investigator.

Break

Inspired by a real life story, Break also notable to feature the late Michael K. Williams who, in one of his last roles, was Eli Bernard, a police officer sympathetic to Brown-Easley’s plight trying to make a desperate way to clarify the hostage situation.

Good night, Mom

Naomi Watts wears a ski mask and looks in the mirror in Goodnight Mommy.

Naomi Watts to star in Veronika Franz’s 2022 remake and Severin Fiala’s 2014 psychological thriller Good night, Mom. The film revolves around twin boys who, after arriving at their mother’s remote country house and discovering her face covered in bandages, arise suspicions that this woman is not in fact their mother. .

Are from our review:

When the English remake was announced for Good night, Mom, the biggest question is whether the new movie will play out as hard and have a nihilistic ending as the original. Not only does the remake lack the power to approach the original film in terms of on-screen horror and pain, but it also doesn’t really function as a movie in its own right.

The new version stars Naomi Watts as the True Mother. With the English remake Rings and Fun game Under her belt, Watts seems like an easy choice for the lead role of a reboot of an international American horror film. The remake’s shortcomings are not due to her lack of skill or effort – the problem lies in the writing and directing.

Hiroyasu Ishida’s (Penguin Expressway) latest anime features Drifting home revolves around childhood friends Kosuke and Natsume, who, after visiting the apartment building where they used to live before it was destroyed, are transported to another dimension surrounded by the vast ocean. Accustomed to their mutual friends, the two must now work together to find a way out of this strange world and back to themselves.

Are from our review:

Handsome animation production from Studio Colorido (Penguin Expressway, Away Away) do a lot to sell exotic premise. Structures shift and break with believable weight, though the driving action is about a building drifting across the ocean like a raft. Likewise, the young characters are all drawn with light, gentle lines. Akihiro Nagae’s designs remain pristine even with more fanciful characters appearing for children. Realist background art contrasts modern with medieval, post-war architecture, but Ishida’s direction isn’t obsessively realist. It never feels contrary to the film’s sense of danger when the director uses extensive, sometimes very elastic physical comedy into the characters’ interactions with these environments, as when Kosuke apple violently used makeshift tow ropes to reach an adjacent floating building, pierced the roof sheet, and bounced off the building like a battery ball.

Jon Hamm stars in this reboot of the 1980s comedy series, filling in the name Chevy Chase as the quick-witted comedy detective.

Are from our review:

The way Hamm revives the series is getting a half-baked dual release in some theaters and on VOD shows how little Miramax believes in the project. However, the movie says otherwise. It was fleeting and enjoyable – the kind of comedy that adult audiences used to watch a lot more often than they do today. Comedies have fallen out of favor in a cinema scene devoted more to Liam Neeson-style revenge films, but Confess, Fletch fresh, not only for the way it uses comedy, but also for the way it uses Jon Hamm.
