DOC: The PCC prisoner quickly held the weapon close to the officer’s neck | Crime and the Court

Correctional staff at the Potosi Correctional Center dealt with an alleged incident at the facility on Saturday.

According to information released by the Missouri Department of Corrections (DOC), the situation began shortly before midnight on Saturday, when two inmates in custody at the facility feigned an emergency.

While officers were assisting one of the violators, the other is said to have escaped from the security bench and entered a room where two female employees were working.

Once inside the room, the prisoner held a prison-made weapon around an officer’s neck and began making demands, the DOC reported.

The officer escaped the man’s control, and another officer protected the violator, putting him in check with the help of two incident response officers. The incident lasted less than a minute.

The identities of the inmates have yet to be released pending formal charges being filed. The Daily will release additional details regarding the incident as they become available.
