Double ‘Eric’ Endorsement Sends Trumpworld Spiraling
The former president’s decision to endorse “Eric” for a race with two Erics as the primary candidates plunged Trumpworld into open chaos.
The trouble started on Monday night when Donald Trump throw your political weight behind “Eric,” means that two Republican candidates in the Missouri Senate, Eric Greitens and Eric Schmitt, can legally claim his blessing.
(Rep. Vicky Hartzler, a candidate in the Trump race who made it clear he would disapprove, congratulates little-known “Eric” third on the ballot, Eric McElroy, in a declare tongue in cheek.)
Within minutes, both Schmitt and Greitens had issued tweets touting the endorsement without acknowledging it was a joint venture.
By Tuesday morning, it was clear that the Trumpworld experts weren’t amused.
Fox News host and heavy right-wing media Dan Bongino there was a controversy on Twitter over Greitens insisting Trump endorsed him.
“No. Not a chance in hell,” he Written in response to a tweet by Greitens touting Trump’s endorsement. “Put that chair down the toilet if Greitens wins.”
“Nonsense. Read the testimonial, ‘Fox News host’ continue. “This guy is a FRAUD.”
Convinced that two tweets were not enough in this regard, Bongino continued to tweet.
“If you listen to any of my shows, you know that I usually stay out of the primaries. But this is different. PLEASE, don’t vote for Greitens. Trust me on this. Please,” he conclusion. “I cannot emphasize this with strong enough English words.”
Likewise, when Greitens claimed Trump’s endorsement as his own, former NRA spokesman and gun fanatic Dana Loesch jump into the fold to hit a hit on Greitens.
“Greitens lost to Schmitt by double digits in the polls and camped outside Mar-a-Lago for weeks in hopes of gaining endorsements, just to get this,” she tweeted. “Greitens is Beto [O’Rourke] of Missouri. “
A senior adviser to the Greitens campaign hit back at Lake Loesch’s claims Tuesday afternoon, telling The Daily Beast, “Only one candidate has dropped out of camp, and that’s RINO Eric Schmitt.”
It didn’t end there, as the influential Loesch ripped Congressman Matt Gaetz about his support for the former Missouri governor.
“It wasn’t without endorsements, man,” Loesch speak in response to a tweet by Gaetz congratulating Greitens.
In a tweet Tuesday, Republican Senator Ted Cruz (TX) cheered Schmitt.
“Missouri, the polls are open right now! Vote for my friend Eric Schmitt, ‘senator’ speak. “He’s the strongest conservative in the Missouri Senate race!”
A Trump spokesman did not return The Daily Beast’s request for comment on the story Tuesday morning.
Politico report late Monday that the double endorsement came at the end of a seven-hour lobbying campaign that took place at Trump’s Bedminster golf club. The scramble features Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle. on behalf of Greitens and RNC President Ronna McDaniel tried to persuade the former president to remain neutral.
Finally, Trump, dismissing concerns that a double endorsement might be “too cute,” backed both candidates and called them to congratulate them while saying he also supported his opponent. they, according to Politico.
While there are many detractors of Greitens, there are also supporters.
“Missouri go out and vote for Eric Greitens,” Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani declare. “Personally, I am very proud of President Trump for having had the courage, the courage, and the ball to endorse Eric Greitens,” right-wing radio talker and close friend John Fredericks of Steve Bannon chilled in. “#BallsWins.”
On Trump’s own social media site, Social TruthOpinions on endorsements fluctuate widely, with many pro-Trump users arguing among themselves in the comments section.
“Schmitt is a Grassroots RINO,” wrote user “@MidnightLouie,” while other pro-Trump users argued that “Eric” was Trump’s favorite in the race.
On Tuesday morning, Greitens, who describes himself as a “MAGA warrior,” appeared on Steve Bannon’s WarRoom show, speak“At the end of the day, this race is simple… this is MAGA vs. [Mitch] McConnell. “
