Drama actor Art LaFleur dies at the age of 78

Art LaFleur, known for playing Babe Ruth in Playground for children and Chick Gandil in Field of dreams, has died. He was 78 years old.

On Thursday, November 18, his wife, Shelley LaFleur, announced in a poignant Facebook post that Art had passed away after a 10-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Call him “love of [her] life,” Shelley explains, “Art” has brought laughter to so many “in films like Field of dreams and Clause 2 about Santa Claus as well as on popular TV shows including WATER, Matlock, Baywatch, Doogie Howser, Upgrade house, Boy Meets World, House and most recently Key and Peele.

His role as Babe Ruth in the 1993 film Playground for children Still known to this day for his iconic quote: “Remember kid, there are heroes and there are legends. Heroes are remembered, but legends never die! Follow the contrary. your heart, kid and you will never be wrong.”
