Duke advances to 13th record in K Coach’s 13th Finals
The legendary Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski’s final dance performance will continue for at least one more game.
No. 2 Blue Devil Duke advanced to Saturday’s Four Nights Finals, defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks #4, 78-69, in the Western Zone final.
Duke took control from Friday night’s jump, 45-33 lead at halftime. Arkansas took the Blues’ lead to five with just over 13 minutes left, but Duke took the lead, leaving the Razorbacks without a goal for the next 3:16 of the second half while making the lead up. 15 with a score of 63-48.
Four green demons finished with doubles. Striker AJ Griffin has the highest 18 points of his teammates when he shoots 7/9 from the field. Paolo Banchero finished with 16 points, Wendell Moore Jr with 14 and Mark Williams finished with 12.
Arkansas’ Jaylin Williams led all scorers with 19 points on 8/17 shots, with 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Meanwhile, Stanley Umude and J.D. Notae finished with 14 points each for the Razorbacks.
The Blue Devils reached the Finals for the 17th time in the show’s history and a record 13th under Krzyzewski.
Next week in New Orleans, Duke will face the winner of Sunday’s Elite Eight match between No. 8 North Carolina and No. 15 Saint Peter’s.
