Dungeons & Dragons fans compete to turn their campaign into a Lego set

Lego is teaming up with Wizards of the Coast to celebrate its 50th anniversary Dungeons & Dragons in 2023. Fans are invited to submit custom Lego designs of in-game adventures they’ve had for years, like the lair of a blocky dragon teeming with loot, a terrifying Beholder. or a scuffle in the tavern instigated by little yellow barbarians. Submissions are now openand will be accepted until November 14. Winners will get to turn their model into a retail product – and profit from the sale of that product.

Here’s how it works: Lego is asking fans to submit detailed renderings or constructions derived from the D&D world. A panel of judges from the Lego Ideas and Wizards of the Coast team will select several designs from this pool of open submissions. Their selections move to the Fan Vote, which runs from November 28 to December 12, 2022. Voting won’t be the only way a retail product is chosen, however. Instead, they are more to “help the jury gauge the level of fan interest in specific designs and confirm fan excitement for the theme”.

The person behind the winning design will receive:

1% of all LEGO IDEAS Dungeons & Dragons net sales;

10 free copies of the LEGO IDEAS Dungeons & Dragons set;

Credits and bio in the kit as a LEGO IDEAS Dungeons & Dragons Fan Designer; and a prize pack of Dungeons & Dragons giveaways!

Submissions are open until November 14; Fans can submit their entries at challenge page of the competition on the official Lego website.
