Now, in the latest developments, a report by news website Puck reveals EA is actively pursuing a sale or merger with an even larger company. According to reports (via Kotaku), the Battlefield producer and FIFA are said to have held talks with companies like Disney, Apple, and Amazon.
It also appears to be in talks with NBCUniversal about a potential merger, but the two sides can’t come to an agreement. Both sides declined to comment, and EA said it did not respond to rumors and speculation.
Comcast CEO Brian Roberts is said to have proposed the merger, and if it goes ahead, could see Roberts still in control, with current EA CEO Andrew Wilson as head. new big business.
EA is said to have “persistently pursued the purchase” and was only more eager after Microsoft signed an agreement with Activision Blizzard. It also looks like an arrangement that sees Wilson remain chief executive officer. And although it is believed that no transaction is currently in progress, they still want to make an acquisition or merger.
