England’s opener Alex Hales is likely to be selected after three years as the ECB’s new chief executive Rob Key feels the hitter has “run out of time”. Hales has been pulled from England’s 2019 ODI World Cup squad after the Guardian reported he was serving a three-week ban for recreational drug use.
The 33-year-old played 11 trials, 70 ODIs and 60 T20s. Hales last played for England in 2019.

“I’ll have to talk to the people involved in that decision but I’ll leave Alex Hales available to choose from. I think he’s done his best. But it means he’s in the team. ? It’s another debate,” Key said, quoting the Guardian.
Hales, who plays T20 tournaments around the world, withdrew from the ongoing IPL citing bubble fatigue.
