Ghenea will play Naomi, an accomplished circumnavigational yachtwoman who embarks on a solo trip to meet her boyfriend Jackson (Westwick) in Grenada. But her peaceful three-day trip aboard 47-foot yacht The Serenity suddenly turned dark when a storm forced her off course.

In circling an uninhabited island, she responds to a distress signal to aid a sinking ship, where she finds three survivors clinging to the remains of a boat. Events quickly take a malevolent turn as it reveals that the survivors are drug traffickers forcing Naomi to dive into the hull of the sunken wreck to retrieve 850 kilograms of cocaine. The plan is thwarted when Naomi finds herself surrounded by a horde of man-eating tiger sharks – attracted to the corpses in the wreck.

Ghenea added: “I fell in love with this character from the moment I read the script. Naomi is a very confident, vibrant, and high-achieving young woman – it’s an honor to play such a powerful female lead. I was delighted to have completed a month of intensive diving training in preparation for the role and very excited to begin filming with such a talented team. ”

Brilliant Pictures with headquarters in London and Rome is handling the worldwide sales rights for Deep fear.
