Until recently, summer was my favorite season. Not for the warm nights or the holiday weekends (though those are certainly perks), but for another reason: The ability to wear a dress every day of the week. As a 5’2″ tall person with a short torso, skirts are my go-to when it comes to outfits. I had a hard time finding Jeans That not only fits my figure and doesn’t drag on the floor, but it also looks good. Just for that reason, summer is the season I look forward to the most because hot, sticky days mean I can wear a dress.

With me, Dresses is the easiest and most understandable way to look at the big picture. They’re a staple, one-time outfit that you can wear up or down, depending on the occasion. They flirt, they have fun, and they say my short legs are so much better than jeans. And although I like sports dresses in the summer, I generally avoid wearing them in the fall because, 1. Sweater is generally receptive to trends, and 2. I have yet to find a warm-weather dress that is comfortable enough for a day at the park and flattering enough for a date dinner. (If you can’t tell, I love easy, versatile, all-in-one outfits.) But, that all changed when I found out. Old Navy equipped with a criss-cross neck short dress ($35).

What I love about the classic knitted halter neck mini dress

I was initially drawn to this dress due to its form-fitting shape. It’s tight enough to accentuate my curves while still being loose enough to be comfortable. Best of all, the length of the dress is exactly where I wanted it to be. It touches the middle of my thighs, which means it shows a bit of skin. And, because the ribbed material is a bit stretchy, this dress could have been made longer if I wanted.

What I especially love is that this dress is light enough to be worn on a sunny autumn day as well as a cold winter night when paired with a warm jacket. The turtleneck and long sleeves make it a great transitional piece for both fall and winter. Plus, it comes in six colors (black, dark brown, navy, white, gray, and light blue), and it comes in sizes for tall and small frames. Not to mention, the $35 price tag is also hard to beat.

What’s remarkable about the old navy blue halter neck mini dress

This dress is made of thin, ribbed material, not suitable for cold weather. While the long sleeves and faux collar add some warmth, I wouldn’t recommend wearing this dress in temperatures below 60 degrees. Suffice to say, this part can be warmed up with a long coat, tights and boots.

Besides that, I noticed that some of the material gathered around my hips. While it’s a bit hard to spot because of the black dress, this may be more noticeable when wearing one of the lighter color options.
