Edmonton Oilers get roster ready for season-opener against Vancouver – Edmonton
The Edmonton Oilers set their roster Monday afternoon in preparation for Wednesday’s season-opening sport towards the Vancouver Canucks.
The 23-man roster contains:
- Fourteen forwards: Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, Jesse Puljujarvi, Kailer Yamamoto, Derek Ryan, Zach Kassian, Warren Foegele, Devin Shore, Kyle Turris, Brendan Perlinin, Tyler Benson, and Ryan McLeod
- Seven defencemen: Darnell Nurse, Tyson Barrie, Duncan Keith, Cody Ceci, Slater Koekkoek, Kris Russell, and Evan Bouchard
- Two goalies: Mike Smith and Mikko Koskinen
Turris cleared waivers on Monday, as did defenceman William Lagesson. Lagesson will head to the Bakersfield Condors within the American Hockey League.
Kassian didn’t apply, although he did skate earlier within the day. He’s taking it day-to-day after hitting his head on the ice on Thursday towards Vancouver.
Nugent-Hopkins didn’t skate Monday, as he was underneath the climate.
Colton Sceviour stays with the Oilers on an expert tryout contract.
“We’ve had some talks with Colton simply to see the place he’s at,” head coach Dave Tippett stated. “We’ll see the place that goes within the subsequent couple of days.”
Tippett added that because it stands proper now, McLeod and Benson can be scratches at ahead.
“We expect (McLeod is) shut to creating our lineup. I feel Devin Shore performed higher than him by means of camp, so Devin Shore goes to begin in that place,” defined Tippett.
“Perlini performed higher than Benson did in camp. Because it seems to be proper now, relying on some harm stuff, Benson and McLeod would be the odd guys out at ahead.
“That line of Shore and Perlini and Turris performed nicely. They gained the spot for the opening sport. The place it goes from there can change rapidly.”
The Oilers play the Canucks Wednesday at 8 p.m. Protection on 630 CHED begins with the Face-off Present at 6 p.m.
