Elon Musk Lifts Twitter Suspensions of Journalists After Poll

Elon Musk restored the accounts of journalists he suspended after claiming they shared details about the location of his private jet.

The Twitter CEO launched a social media poll on Thursday asking whether journalists’ accounts should be reinstated “now” or in “seven days from now”.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, he tweeted, “Everyone has spoken. My position doxx accounts will be suspended for now.”

More than 58 percent of the 3.8 million respondents voted for “now” in the poll.

“It’s inspiring to see a new rekindled love of freedom of expression journalism,” he wrote on Twitter.

Journalists include Insiders commentator Linette LópezRyan Mac’s The New York TimesDrew Harwell’s washington articlesCNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, ‘s Matt Binder Can be mixedMicah Lee’s interceptSteven Herman’s VOAas well as Aaron Rupar, Tony Webster and Keith Olbermann, all of whom saw their Twitter accounts suspended without warning.

Musk has accused journalists of deceiving him by disclosing his personal information but the reporters insist that they do not publish his address or location.

Elon Musk has restored most of the Twitter accounts he suspended.


While the accounts of Harwell, O’Sullivan, Binder, Lee, Herman, Rupar, Webster and Mac have all been recovered, his Olbermann and López apparently still suspended on Saturday morning.

The ElonJet account that is dedicated to tweeting the location of Musk’s private jet is also still suspended.

Lopez told The Daily Beast she was not told how long her ban would last. She said she didn’t tweet details about the location of Musk’s private jet.

Twitter also targeted a rival, Mastodon, by blocking users from adding the Mastodon username to their Twitter profiles.
