This isn’t the first time Musk has resorted to naming when disagreeing with a US senator.
Predictably, Musk was applauded by fans for trolling two senators. This guy doesn’t care who he offends! He will say anything to anyone!
Sound like “praise” to anyone else you know?
What Trump is all about, however, is dramatically downplaying what we expect from his public figures. Instead of trying to be a role model, public figures have followed Trump’s instructions: Prioritize rudeness and cruelty over decency and respect.
Role models were once a real thing. A person whom, due to his success in sports, politics or business, other people – especially children – must admire. And who understands the expectations that such a status in society conveys.
Such behavior by Musk suggests that the idea of a role model has been diminished and replaced by an explosion on the internet.
I know which one I like better.
The point: Rudeness means rude. Disrespect means disrespect. And when someone like Musk ignores the social obligations, wealth and success that have brought him, it sets a terrible example for those who admire him.
