I want to ask you about the people you hate…
Not sure if it’s VMAs or MTV Movie Awards [in] like 2015. This very lovely man tied my hair in an extremely tight ponytail. And then there’s the makeup, I have pink lips, and the way she puts makeup on my skin, I look pale. I have no color on my face. And super, super bold brows, and really thick mascara. I hate those images so much. I was like, “Why isn’t anyone there to help you?”
You’re like, “If I could delete one thing…”
Oh my God. No, I’m fine with it. I went through a lot of uncomfortable moments in public. I was so embarrassed with the Marge Simpson costume I made years ago for Heidi Klum. I did my own yellow makeup. Now I say, “Honestly, good for you, girl. You tried it, you did it.”
You’ve tried it, that’s what matters. Shift gears a bit, I know it’s been about a year since your book came out. How has your life changed since it was published?
I mean, I used to dislike when people came to me. I was just thinking about this recently, so it’s funny that you ask this. Usually, a girl will say, “I’m your boyfriend”, or a guy will say, “I love you forever, can we take a picture?” Now, young women say, “I like this part of your book.” Obviously, I felt like getting that out into the world, maybe starting a podcast and living in New York and having someone like, “I listened to that episode. I had a lot of thoughts about blah, blah.” , blah.” I feel more connected to the world. Not the fans, just people, in general. And I’m really, really grateful for that.
