On the second to last day of New York Fashion Week, COS launch it Fall 2022 collection with a highly anticipated runway event. Presenting an array of watchable, buy-in wardrobe staples, the show is framed as a tribute to New York City, from the Starrett-Lehigh building location to the reflective runway. designed to reflect the skyscrapers of Manhattan. With celebrities like Euphoria’s Angus Cloud and Anderson Paak, Emily Ratajkowski (Emrata) sits front row in quintessential New York outfits. She chose a pair of belted black pants with a chic oversize collar, leather accessories, and knee-high boots. “[My stylist and I] there’s the whole mood board in action right now including Sharon stone in ‘Basic Instinct,’ Carrie Bradshaw and lots of Tom Ford for Gucci,” she told POPSUGAR after the show.Sex and the city“Undoubtedly, the influence that inspired Emrata’s choice of handbags: the popular Christian Dior saddlebag that Bradshaw helped popularize in 2000.
To add a nostalgic touch to her look, Emrata debuted goofy bangs (“I just cut my bangs and wanted to show it off,” she said) and ombré dyed hair. While she says her everyday aesthetic could be called a “hot working mom,” Fashion Week calls for a completely different styling process. “I’m really just focused on finding ways to match my personal style with the designer’s vision in a way that I feel connected,” she explains.
At COS, that vision revolves around nostalgic trends, reimagined with an eye towards the future. Think oversized coats – now on trend for Fall 2022 – made from classic materials like herringbone and tweed. Structured jackets are imaginatively combined with wide-leg trousers. And the minimalist ’90s neutrals were given a pop of color thanks to neon handbags and colorful scarves. Standout looks from the collection include a neon turtleneck; a brown cocoon coat styled with a bucket hat; and an outfit made with 100% recycled sequins. Models, like Liya Kebede, Alton Mason and Paloma Elsesser walked the runway in head-to-toe black, a favored NYC palette that mirrors Emrata’s look.
