Veteran Hollywood journalist and event organizer Laurane Sheehan has passed away. She is 61 years old.
Sheehan passed away on November 11 from a sudden heart attack. “It was a pleasure working with my best friend. We laughed with abandon every day. I thought that kind of smile was the ticket to a long life… but the universe has other plans for our beautiful and talented Laurane. She is currently staying with her parents, Elvyra and her beloved Roy, and most likely in the mean time away forever playing the endless game of Scrabble,” said Maggie Begley, president of Maggie Begley Communications, in a statement. a statement on Tuesday.
Sheehan was a senior account supervisor at Maggie Begley Communications for 30 years, working with clients such as LAIKA Studios, Locksmith Animation, The Gotham Group, The Oneida Indian Nation, Vista Group, Movio, Cinedigm and Benenson Productions.
“Laurane is truly an exceptional person who has had an extremely positive influence on others… I consider myself very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with her,” said David Burke, marketing director at LAIKA Studios, added in its own statement.
Sheehan worked on film campaigns for Kubo and the Two Strings, Missing Link, Coraline, The Invisible War, Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World and Beasts of No Nation, among others. Her event plans include parties on large yachts during the Cannes Film Festival.
Born on June 7, 1960, in Maryland, Sheehan graduated from Catholic University in Washington, DC after becoming a National Baton Swing Champion at a young age.
She began her Hollywood career as a stage, television and commercial actress after arriving in Los Angeles in 1983 through a production tour. Woman of the Year, starring Lauren Bacall. Sheehan was the first executive producer of the Music Video Producers Association and executive producer of the organization’s first MVPA Awards aimed at raising awareness of the emerging music video industry.
Other publicity activities include working with Mahoney/Wasserman and PMK/HBH. Sheehan is survived by brother Paul Sheehan, sister Maureen Glovins and sister-in-law Lisa Sheehan.
