Since then, she has dedicated her life to public service, making her mark when she became the first U.S. Representative to speak on her own floor of abortion in 2011. Speier talked with David about her blue-collar upbringing, her experience in Jonestown and its long ramifications, abortion rights, gun violence, her concern for the future. of Congress — and what gives her hope.
