Senator Chris Murphy caught the political error early; He was first elected to the Connecticut state legislature at the age of 25 while still attending law school. He eventually served three terms as a U.S. Congressman before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2012. Just before his term began, he became an advocate. outspoken for gun reform after a gunman killed 20 children and six adults at his county’s Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012. Senator Murphy joined David to talk about how Sandy Hook refocused his political career, the new gun safety law he helped get through Congress, what he sees as politicizing the Supreme Court, why he hopes voters start paying attention to the procedure of Senate, and his belief that Senator Mitch McConnell wants to be part of a paradigm shift in gun violence prevention.
