Euro zone trade deficit shrinks to 8.8 billion euros

Euro area recorded a trade deficit of €8.8 billion, versus market expectations of €12.5 billion

Exports increased by 18.0% compared to 2021 – reflecting improved trade conditions after the pandemic – but imports increased by 37.5% – which could reflect higher energy import costs in context of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
