Eyewitnesses heroic moment save attacked woman from thug, 52, who ‘tried to drown her’ in public fountain

This is the shocking moment a man who tried to drown a woman in a public fountain was beaten unconscious by rescuers.

The 52-year-old man – now facing attempted murder charges – cooled down in the water with the woman on Aug.

But when a passerby offered to take a picture of them at a park in Valencia, Spain, he fled when the person handed him his cell phone.

Local media reported that he thought his acquaintance was involved in the theft and tried to drown her in the fountain.

The film’s phone footage shows the topless thug – apparently drunk – grabbing the woman by the hair, forcing her head into the water.

One can be heard shouting, “He’s going to kill her.”

When the crowd begged him to release her, he held on until a man in a red shirt jumped in and strangled him.

Then a second rescuer jumps in and defeats the thug with a series of punches.

But he only let go of the woman’s hair when the second man unleashed a terrible punch, knocking him down.

Now free, the woman – wearing only her underwear – wanders back to the arid land.

Paramedics arrived on the scene within minutes and took the injured couple to the hospital.

The thug had an eyebrow and cheekbone cut off, while his victim was treated for the blows received during the struggle.

By the time officials arrived on the scene, the phone thief and two rescuers were no longer there.

The man was wanted by the National Police for attempted murder. His name has not been released.
