Faraday Future confirms 381-mile EPA range for FF 91, arrival uncertain

Faraday Future has confirmed an official EPA range of 381 miles for at least one version of its FF 91 electric SUV, although production dates are still uncertain.

The 381-mile rating applies to the FF 91 Futurist model, the company said in a press release. Faraday also confirmed Green car report ratings are for models with 142 kwh battery packs. Faraday is currently taking pre-orders for the Futurist and Futurist Alliance models, with pre-orders for an unnamed base model opening at a later date.

FF 91 has been expected for many years. It was first expressed as a concept in 2017, the company build the first pre-production car in 2018. But funding problems have delayed the launch of FF 91 – and may well be doing so again.

In July, the company said it needs more funding to put the FF 91 into production, adding that it has been targeted for launch in Q4 2022 if that funding can be secured. Faraday did not provide any updates with the announcement of the FF 91’s range certification.

However, Faraday also announced earlier this year that they plan to bring FF 81 is smaller mass production at the Korean plant in 2024. The FF 91 is expected to be built in California.

Since 2019, Faraday is led by Carsten Breitfeld, presenter BMW i8 and at another troubled EV startup — Byton. That startup had planned to launch its own electric SUV – the M-Byte – which was due to launch in the United States in 2021. But financial problems forced Byton into bankruptcy, even though the company The startup received a bailout from Foxconn in 2021.
