It’s been a while since we had a plus document size focuses on the fashion of the plus size industry, the people who make it, from the community, by the community. Laquinta Davis, aka DivaBigg, is here to change that with her documentary Fat IS Fashion!
If you’re not familiar, DivaBigg is a body-positive company. DivaBigg revolves around three divisions: apparel, modeling and show production. Through their slogan, “My belly is MY BEAUTY”, they work every day to promote that mindset in the women they mentor and the people they serve.
LaQuinta Davis sought out influential figures in the plush fashion industry from near and far to participate in this event and documentary. Each actor shares their story from the perspective of their role in the industry.
The cast of Fat Is Fashion are people in the plus size fashion industry. For this documentary, we heard from 18 plus size industry experts, from FFFWeek creator, Gwen DeVoefashion designer, old jasmine of the Jibriand even ours EIC, Marie Denee!
To kick off the celebration of this massive documentary, there are three screenings taking place next February and YOU are invited!
DivaBigg introduces screenings of “Fat is fashion”
The focus of the screening was on the role of the plus size community in fashion and mainstream media. It is an opportunity for people to realize and understand the harsh reality of the fashion industry. This room full of influencers will provide a platform to start a conversation about supporting each other in the community.
The focus will be on education, networking and communication. Fat is Fashion aims to evoke positive images, enhance self-esteem, create a successful lifestyle and promote inner beauty.

Each screening will include a VIP appearance on the Red Carpet. For tickets, prices range from $30 – $65. And yes, there is a VIP option for those who want a little more luxury!
For each of these screenings of Fat is Fashion, the event benefits ADAA– Anxiety and Depression Association of America. ADAA is an international non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and cure of anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders through the link between science, treatment, and education.
For those attending either screening, the Fat is Fashion screening event offers many opportunities to network and learn more about the industry.
