Fear the Walking Dead is making a significant comeback after finishing the first half of the seventh season.
AMC on Sunday revealed that Walking corpses The prequel series has been refreshed for an eighth season, with former lead lady Kim Dickens reprising the show as a regular series. Dickens, whom Madison Clark was killed three years ago in season four, will make her triumphant return to the zombie drama in the second half of season seven, which returns on April 17.
“If there was a Deadmore mountain, Kim Dickens’ face would be on it. Madison Clark is a fundamental TWDU character — heroic, complex, one who becomes a warrior and then a force of benevolence,” said Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of Zombie The universe. “Kim Dickens’ talent, strength and brilliance will power TWDU once again and we couldn’t be luckier to have her back.”
Details surrounding Madison’s return were not immediately available. The character was last seen in the midseason finale of season four when she was presumed dead after seemingly sacrificing herself to save her family and friends from a horde of vagrants. Dickens, in an interview with CHEAP at the time she leaves, say leave FTWD was not her choice but was instead chosen by hosts Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, who have replaced original series author Dave Erickson. While her character’s death was never shown on screen, Dickens, Chambliss, Goldberg and Talking Dead presenter Chris Hardwick both confirmed that Madison had died. However, the door remains open for Dickens to return to the series, which she says she is “disappointed” with leaving.
The extension for FTWD strengthen a corner of Walking corpses universe as the flagship series prepares to wrap up the second half of its 11th and final installment in 2022. As the original film concludes, fan favorites Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride will move on to Carol and Daryl’s spinoff series that will feature an episodic anthology, Tales of the Walking Dead, at AMC. Gimple, formerly TWD showrunner, which oversees the larger universe, also includes feature-length films led by Andrew Lincoln. Walking Dead: World Beyond, was originally designed as an ongoing TV series but is now billed as a two-season limited series, which concluded on Sunday.
