Feds seek to criminalize threats to healthcare workers
OTTAWA – The federal government enacted a new bill on Friday that, if passed, would impose new criminal sanctions on those who threaten healthcare workers, impede access to access to medical facilities or threaten those accessing health services.
The legislation would also update federal employment law to provide 10 days of paid leave.
Both of these initiatives are 2021 federal election campaign pledges from the Liberals.
More to come.
