Feed, fight and marry other cats in ‘Cattails: Wildwood Story’, Landing in Transformation in 2024
Back to 2018, before Animal Crossing: New Horizonsbefore the pandemic and before the Nintendo eShop was full of kitten games, there were Cattails: A relaxing cat RPG that combines the territorial nature of man’s second best friend with the simulated survival of games like Stardew Valley. We gave it 8/10 at the time, praising the “fun mechanics, playful text, and endearing soundtrack” as the perfect way to skip the hours before Animal Crossing.
Good announcement for cat fans: Cattails is getting a standalone sequel, called Cattails: Wildwood Storyand it’s coming to Switch soon too! The game is currently being Launchedbut whether you support it or not, it has already broken its original target of $30,000 and is well on its way to hitting $250,000 as we write this.
Here are some descriptions from the Kickstarter page:
Experience life as a cat in an unfamiliar wilderness. Glide through dense forests, murky swamps, rocky plateaus and sandy beaches in search of rare herbs and delicious prey. Build and customize your colony’s base of operations and attract new residents to develop a thriving community. Meet a diverse cast of unique cats and bring back gifts from your travels to make friends!
Cattails: Wildwood Story is a single player game and inspired by life simulations (Harvest Moon, Mule), RPG (Rune Factory) and dating sims to create a “unique cat-themed experience”, featuring a variety of NPCs (obviously cats are not playable) to make friends, flirt, and settle in.
Unlike your usual life simulators, Cattails also has special cat mechanics – sneaking, hunting, and not even being able to catch creatures during hibernation season. You can even bring another cat to hunt with you!
