Ferrari Daytona SP3 has a mid-mounted 828 hp V12 engine

Turned out Rumors are true, and Ferrari just revealed its latest in Its special “Icona” supercar line. It’s called the Ferrari Daytona SP3, and it takes its name from the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona, in which three of the brand’s race cars finished 1-2-3. And it has the basic design and layout from similar classic mid-engine racing cars.

That mid-engine is a version of The 812 Superfast’s 6.5-liter V12. It still has the red line at 9,500 rpm, but it produces slightly more power at 828 horses. That means it currently holds the title of the most powerful, naturally aspirated, non-hybrid, road-going Ferrari in history. It also produces 514 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Ferrari says it will hit 62 mph in 2.85 seconds and to 124 km/h in 7.4 seconds.

Surrounding the engine is the body and frame made entirely of composite materials, mostly carbon fiber, such as the master bath. Ferrari doesn’t say whether it has a specific use LaFerrari chassis components, but they say they haven’t built a road car like this since LaFerrari. The shape is clearly inspired by classic Ferrari endurance cars like the 330 P3 and P4, but with plenty of modern touches like slim lights and plenty of laces at the rear.

The interior is also inspired by racing cars. The seat is molded into the chassis, with a cushion that attaches directly to the tub. Obviously the sitting position is the lowest position of any Ferrari today. The pedals and steering wheel are adjustable so that the rider has a variety of heights to comfortably fit. The instrument panel is fairly low frills and other tools and functions are handled by a 16-inch screen directly in front of the driver.
