Firefighter recognized for saving 3 men’s lives in the line of duty | News



Three firefighters from the Grand Blanc Town Fire Department, along with one of their friends, have been recognized for saving three men’s lives while on duty this past weekend.

Firefighters Kyle Knopf, Adam Frank and Dave Betchel – along with Grand Blanc resident Larry Warburton – were on a weekend ski trip near the village of Curtis on the Upper Peninsula when they were warned about people needing care. medical care in a nearby cabin.

Knopf rushed into the cabin and found the three men unresponsive and not breathing. Grand Blanc Town Fire Department said. He started CPR on one of the men while Bechtel and Frank performed CPR on the other men.

While all three were performing CPR, the Michigan State Police and local first responders administered NARCAN to provide additional assistance. Frank, Knopf and Bechtel continued CPR until the three men were transported to a local hospital where they were listed in stable condition, according to the fire department.

“The swift and decisive actions of Lyle Knopf, Adam Frank and Dave Betchel not only saved the lives of three men, but also saved their families from unrelenting loss. Their actions are highly reflective of themselves, their profession as well as the fire department and the community of Grand Blanc Township,” the fire department said.

The fire department is also recognizing Warburton for helping alert Bechtel and Frank to help Knopf when the men were found unresponsive.
