First Nations University of Canada announces new President – Regina

Right now on the First Nations College of Canada in Regina, Dr. Jacqueline Ottman was honoured because the college’s new president.

Ottman is Anishinaabe (Saulteaux), and hails from Fishing Lake First Nation in Saskatchewan.

She started her educational profession in 1989, instructing in Calgary, and Ottman’s journey by instructing in each elementary and highschool school rooms, adopted by serving as Professor and Vice-Provost of Indigenous Engagement on the College of Saskatchewan, has led her again to Treaty 4 Territory and her house group.

Ottman mentioned that she feels gratitude, pleasure and a readiness to step into the function on the First Nations University of Canada.

The ceremony that befell on the college included an honour tune, blessing of the president and a efficiency by the Pink Canine Dancers.

“I hoping to encourage our Indigenous college students,” Ottman mentioned. “Our college, our workers, our administration, we’re all right here due to our college students. And so we need to make sure that our college students are holistically supported and that they’re supported proper from entry into the establishment, to finishing their schooling right here,” she mentioned.
