Flying Lotus signs multi-film development contract with XYZ Films and Logical Pictures
Steven Ellison, better known as the songwriter and multidisciplinary artist Flying Lotus, has signed a multi-image development deal to produce and direct a series of upcoming films with Logical Pictures and XYZ Films based in Paris.
Negotiated by Frédéric Fiore and Grace Adams from Logical Pictures and Nate Bolotin, partner at XYZ Films, on behalf of Brainfeeder Films, the independent film production and finance company Ellison was formed with filmmaker Eddie Alcazar in In 2016, the deal will fund a variety of thrillers, thrillers, and sci-fi projects.
Ellison has amassed a notable group of collaborators in recent years, including the likes of David Lynch (Twin Peaks: The Return), Alma Harel (LoveTrue), Hiro Murai (Atlanta, Station 11), Shinichiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Carole & Tuesday), and LeSean Thomas, whom he produced and compose for the 2021 Netflix anime Yasuke starring Lakeith Stanfield.
“I am delighted to be collaborating again with longtime partner XYZ Films,” Logical Pictures Group president Frédéric Fiore said in a statement. “Flylo is a talented and respected musician with such a unique creative universe. I can’t wait to work on his upcoming film projects and other media projects after his promising debut as a filmmaker. ”
In January, XYZ Films announced that Ellison’s second film, the sci-fi thriller, is coming. Ash, will begin production this summer. “I have a strong desire to innovate in the sci-fi space, and I really wanted to show the world something they’ve never seen before,” Ellison said of the film in a press release.
