NEW DELHI: Central Investigation Office (CBI) on Tuesday conducted raids at 40 locations involving NGO representatives, their intermediaries and Interior Department officials for allegedly facilitating violations of the rules. foreign funding.
CBI says that hawala transactions worth Rs 2 crore have been detected so far in the raids.
It was discovered during the operation that some civil servants from MHANGO representatives and intermediaries exchanged funds to facilitate infringing foreign contributions FCRA2010, they said.
So far, the agency has arrested about six people including MHA officials and NGO representatives in connection with the incident, they said.
Co-ordinated action on the alleged FCRA violations is underway at multiple locations including in Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Mysore and several locations in Rajasthanthey said.
Agency officials said that nationwide raids were conducted based on input provided by the Union Home Office.
