Former Harpo Entertainment CEO is 33 years old – The Hollywood Reporter
Leah Stephanie Newman, daughter of WME agent Robert Newman and a former Hollywood television executive, has died. She is 33 years old.
On Monday, November 22, Newman gave birth to a daughter, Beatrice Violet. Two days later, on November 24, Newman unexpectedly died of unexplained postpartum complications at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Her daughter will be raised by Newman’s parents, Cindy and Robert Newman, a motion picture agent at WME.
“To know Leah was in love with her. She is an extremely loving, generous and kind person; Her big heart is filled with compassion for humanity. Leah enjoys sewing, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Leah’s biggest dream is to become a mother,” a statement from Robert Newman and his family said on Tuesday.
Leah Newman was born on July 14, 1988, in south Florida and raised in Beverly Hills. She worked for many years in the entertainment industry, most recently at Harpo Entertainment, and later switched careers to become a speech-language pathologist working at both Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the Center Southern California Health in Los Angeles.
“We are grateful to the dear friends who reached out to our family with gestures of support during this most distressing time and the wonderful friends who have been a guiding light in Leah’s life.” Newman’s family added.
A memorial service is scheduled for December 2. Instead of flowers, the family has asked for donations to The March of Dimes or a trust established in the name of Beatrice Violet.
