Former players we want to see return to the NBA

With so many players currently participating in the league’s Health and Safety Protocols, there are team rosters for a few that we’d love to see back in the NBA.

Some make perfect sense, others are just some of the people we think will make the league that much more interesting through a tumultuous season.

Ray allen

To put it bluntly, why wouldn’t anyone want to see ‘Sugar’ Ray return to the league for any reason other than Ray Allen? The Steph Curry factor recently overtook him for the all-time three-point record and this story suddenly got a little more interesting.

Bring him back home to the Bucks and let Giannis, Jrue and Khris let him get his open look. To make it even more interesting, imagine him playing with Curry about warriors?

Curry is currently hitting 2,986 goals in three games, just 13 goals ahead of Allen, so wouldn’t it be fun to watch these two play against each other in real time for a record 3-pointer?

Sure, Steph still wins in the long run, but see Jesus Shuttlesworth’s Perfect Shooting Form in the Modern NBA with a license to shoot again would be very sweet.

JR Smith

Two-time NBA champion is Pursuing a degree in liberal studies at North Carolina State University A&T and play golf for the school team.

Smith spent 16 seasons in the NBA playing for 5 brands and won titles with LeBron James in 2016 as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers and in 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers. He is now 36 years old but still seems to be in great shape. He looks like he’s comfortable in the next chapter of his life as a student and an overall inspiration, but you’re telling us it won’t be fun to see Swish Gawd return to the league just once. again?

Dante Exum

The fact that Exum isn’t on the NBA roster is questionable yet.

The Australian entered the NBA with high hopes after being placed 5th overall by the Utah Jazz in the 2014 NBA draft but he has suffered from injuries throughout his career. Exum spent the first five and a half seasons of his NBA career with the Utah Jazz, before spending some time with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and then being included in the blockbuster four-team commercial that saw the Brooklyn Nets land James Harden, to Houston.

Exum impressed throughout the Olympics, helping Australia win its first men’s international medal with a tenacious defense and three-point shot. He finished the bronze medal match with 12 points in the 4/5 shot and two assists.

The Houston Rockets were impressive enough to sign him to a motivational deal, but he was exempted from pre-season. He is currently playing for Barcelona in the Spanish league and on December 23, he had his best game for the club, scoring 13 points (3/6 goals), picking up 2 rebounds and 2 rebounds. 2 assists in the win over Unics in extra time.

His Barcelona contract expires on February 28, so a return to the NBA could be on the cards if he impresses in Spain.

Nick Young

There was a time when Nick Young was one of those the most trusted three-pointers in the NBA. He’s played in the league for 12 seasons for six franchises, and also has NBA championship experience.

Most recently he played for Enemies in Ice Cube’s Big 3 alliance. Even though he hasn’t been in the NBA for three seasons now he’s definitely not washed, and he can still hoop.

Jeremy Lin

Lin attempted a return to the NBA and joined the Warriors’ Santa Cruz minor league league team in the NBA’s G League last year. Lin played well, averaging 19.8 points per game and 6.4 assists with Santa Cruz in nine games, but was never called up to the NBA.

“For months, I’ve seen other people get contracts, opportunities, opportunities” Lin wrote on Instagram on May 18. “I told myself I just needed ONE 10-day contract, a chance to get back in the ring and I’d be out. After all, that’s how my whole career started – without a chance to prove it. For my reasons” I’ll never know, that opportunity never materialized. But I’ve proven that I’m better than ever and an NBA player. “

Lin currently plays for the Beijing Ducks in the CBA China, but given the Knicks’ current battles with injuries and Covid protocols, it’s unlikely that the New York finals will be the last chance for an NBA career. Lin’s?

Matthew Dellavedova

Dellavedova’s time in the NBA is polarizing. He provokes, he makes people go.

As a member of the Cavaliers, he was loved by everyone in Cleveland. Fans protested, not so much. Every loose ball, ‘Delly’ is diving for it. Need some gritty defense? Delly’s got you. He had his breakthrough playing alongside LeBron James in the 2015 Finals.

“He’s made of steel, or something,” James said. “If the ball is on the ground, he will be the first to hit the ground. He has appeared many times tonight. He is huge. He is very important to our team. We had that guts, that guts that we needed. keep working. He’s huge for us.”

A series of illnesses, including a concussion, whiplash, emergency appendectomy and a neck strain, have derailed his second spell with the Cavaliers, but he is currently playing with Melbourne United in the Football League Australia’s national basket. With teams looking to bolster their playoff rosters deeper into the NBA season, Delly could be back in action sooner than we think.
