Fortnite’s Halloween event returns to turn players into werewolves
Werewolves will start to hide around Fortnite when the Fortnitemare event kicks off in-game on Tuesday. Epic Games originally announced the October 1 launch date, but now we’re finally secret about the details: Fortnite Players will be able to transform into werewolves.
The big draw of the event will be the new “gifted” werewolf abilities Fortnite players when they visit the Reality Tree’s Changing Altar; there is an emoji there, Ritual Emote, which will provide Howler’s Claw to unlock new abilities, werewolf-y.

Here’s what Epic Games has to say about them:
Wolfscent Abilities
With the Howler’s Claw equipped, howl to activate the Crescent Skill, which lasts for a limited time before going on cooldown. The Crescent ability allows you to track vision, continuously imprinting on enemies within a nearby radius. If there are no enemies in the radius, the Skill Crescent will immediately go on cooldown.
(Are you being followed by vision tracking? Your sixth sense will tell you with an audible heartbeat, growing louder as your hunter approaches…)
Slashing ability
Equipping Howler Claws will of course give you… claws. But these claws are not merely sharp nails. With the Slash ability, get unstoppable and perform a melee attack of four combinations.
The ability to gossip
Your claws make you possible air cut too. With the Air Slash ability, perform a double jump that damages the opponent upon landing.
As part of the Fortnitemare event, Epic is also opening up a limited time mode called Zero Build Horde Rush. Horde Rush is a cooperative where players must destroy a series of AI enemies. Zero Build simply means no buildings – one of the Fortnitedefining features of, but the one that threatens a lot of new players. Epic says the Zero Build Horde Mode will last until after November 1 “for a limited time”.
Fortnitemares will also include new XP quests – things like the emoji ritual at the aforementioned altars, visiting some scary locations, and using items like candy. Epic says there will be two Fortnitemare missions over the 14 days of the event. Here’s what you need to do to unlock the new rewards:
- Everything’s End Glider – complete five Fortnitemares missions
- Chrome Cage Back Bling – complete 13 Fortnitemares missions
- Unmaker Pickaxe – complete 25 Fortnitemares . missions
