Trailer for Lucky Follows Sam Greenfield, the unluckiest man in the world. The first trailer announced on Wednesday, and showcasing the animation feature, is by Apple Original Films and the first to be produced by Skydance Animation.
Everything about Sam’s (voiced by Eva Noblezada) day goes awry until she finds a lucky coin that can turn the tide – until she accidentally flushes it down the toilet. She realizes the lucky coin is connected to a mysterious black cat named Bob, voiced by Simon Pegg, whom she follows into the Land of Fortune, like a Rube Goldberg machine with a perfect timing. perfect, in which everything is as it should be – but humans are not allowed. At the bottom of the double-sided world is where all the bad luck is deposited.
“The tiniest bit of bad luck can shut down our entire operation,” warns the CEO of Good Luck, a dragon voiced by Jane Fonda.
Sam aims to bring some luck back into her world for her best friend. But along the way, chaos ensues as she teams up with Pegg’s Bob and encounters mystical creatures including the not-so-humorous Captain, voiced by Whooopi Goldberg; an eccentric unicorn named Jeff (Flula Borg); and a helpful elf named Gerry (Colin O’Donoghue). Before long, Sam inadvertently causes a disaster because his “lucky connection has been severed” with the outside world.
Lucky run by Peggy Holmes, an Emmy Award winner whose credits include The Secret of the Wings and Pirate fairies; and written by Kiel Murray (Car). John Lasseter, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and David Eisenmann produced the film, which premieres August 5 on Apple TV+.
