Network set for second annual broadcast Toast & Toast special hosted by comedians Ken Jeong and Joel McHale.
But the carrier decided late Tuesday to cancel the special. “While we believe in health and safety protocols for Fox 2022 New Year’s Eve Toast & Toast, the speed with which recent Omicron cases have spread has made it impossible for us to create a special one directly in Times Square that meets our standards,” the network said in a statement.
“We will not move forward with Fox 2022 New Year’s Eve Toast & Toast in New York. The health and safety of our cast and crew is always, and will continue to be, of paramount importance. Alternative programming for New Year’s Eve on Fox will be announced in the coming days. ”
Fox’s Toast & Toast is set to include performances by Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, Billy Idol, Pink and Trace Adkins.
“We’re definitely looking at the new challenges we’re facing, but this is a fully vaccinated event and it’s outdoors, and those are two very, very important facilitation factors. . We’re also looking at other ways we could approach it even with the existing rules that could help make it even more robust, so there’s an ongoing discussion. We will have a final decision on what we can do before Christmas, that’s for sure.” Some major cities – such as Los Angeles and Seattle – have canceled planned large events.
