Last week we had a release date for Forever Entertainment’s Mission Ahead 1: Redo, a remake of the original Super Famicom Front Mission game. And following a gameplay reveal on Thursday, the developer revealed that you’ll be able to choose between ‘Classic’ and ‘Modern’ modes, which should make both newbies and fans happy. (thank, Siliconera!).

In the brief clip, shared on TwitterForever Entertainment compared the two modes with each other. Classic mode is close to the classic style of the original version, with a fixed orthogonal camera and original soundtrack. However, the modern mode gives you a remastered track, a different camera angle (with the ability to change the camera angle) and brings other fixes and tweaks.

The difference is pretty minor on the surface, although we love the classic look of the classic mode and it reminds us of playing SRPGs from the 90s but with a slightly more modern visual. See for yourself!

So far, it looks like classic soundtracks and modern soundtracks are locked to their respective modes, but we’ll keep an eye out in case that changes!

Front Mission 1st: Remake launches on Switch eShop on November 30, in case your month doesn’t have enough packages!
