Game Boy Advance Metroidvania ‘Goodboy Galaxy’ delayed to 2023
The Goodboy Galaxy team announced that the GBA and Switch title is coming Goodboy Galaxy was delayed to March 2023 to allow more time to perfect the game.
Speaking over the Kickstarter update, creator Rik Nicol had the following to say:
“We recently reviewed our roadmap and made some adjustments – we are currently slated to do QA in February next year – expect to have a release candidate available. ready in March. Unfortunately, this means we have to push the GBA release a little later than we originally hoped.I know that can be disappointing, but we really wanted to. making the game fit our vision rather than cutting the content and rushing things.
Part of the difficulty with making GBA games is that we can’t really fix, update or add things after the cartridges are manufactured, so I hope you’ll agree with this move. Of course, the Switch/Steam version can be updated, so we can add (e.g.) co-op missions immediately after release to avoid adding more lag when updating, but we will update you as things go (edit: Will avoid doing this for the Switch version so the physical cartridge has all the stuff)! “
To lessen the blow somewhat, the team has also announced that they plan to implement rumble functionality into the game if you choose to play through the Game Boy Player for the GameCube. This would make the game one of only seven GBA games to use the feature, including ones like Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Pokémon Pinball: Ruby and Sapphire.
Here’s a reminder of what the game itself should look like (we think it looks pretty spectacular!):
