‘Game of Thrones’ star Maisie Williams as an adult as Arya Stark – The Hollywood Reporter

Maisie Williams is sharing her feelings about playing Arya Stark on HBO’s Game of Thrones, a role and series in which the British actress was cast at the age of 12. As the show ran for eight seasons, Williams essentially grew up on television and experienced some mature moments on set, which contributed to the complex emotions of the character.

In an interview with Anh GQ announced Tuesday, the 24-year-old actress recalls being first handed a bra in the outfit, and that somewhat deviates from that tomboy and athletic character. Take The audience has become so familiar over the years.

“I think when I started becoming a woman, I resented Arya because I couldn’t express who I was becoming,” she told the outlet. “And then I also resented my body, because it didn’t fit the piece of me the world had glorified.”

During her tenure on the series, Williams was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for her performance. Other actors including Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Sophie Turner, Lena Headey and Kit Harington are also among those recognized, while the show has received numerous accolades.

When asked what she misses about the show, Williams replied, “May I say?” The actress explained that, although she “loves” her time on the fantasy series, she doesn’t want to miss that period of her young life explicitly.

“I don’t think it’s healthy [to miss it], because I love it,” she said. “I look at it affectionately, and I look at it with pride. But why would I want to make myself feel sad about the biggest thing that ever happened to me? I don’t want to associate that with feeling pain.”

However, Williams reprized the role of Arya in the video game produced by Warner Bros. manufacturing MultiVersus – but it’s only by voice. “I’m not saying it’s never going to happen,” Williams said GQ, in response to whether she would reprise the character on screen. “It has to be the right time and the right person.”
