German tuner turns Tesla Model Y into an off-road vehicle

German terrain tuning company Delta4x4 has revealed a series of modifications that could turn the Tesla Model Y into an all-terrain capable dual-engine SUV.

The converted Model Y is 80 mm taller than the original thanks to a 35 mm raised suspension and ATR 265/45 R20 Continental Cross Contact tires on black grooved rims. The wheel arch extension makes the car 60mm wider.

There is a sturdy roof rack with mounted recovery boards and enough payload for a roof tent. There are also PIAA LED headlights and four additional 18,000-lumen driving lights – all of which appear to have been shock-tested at vibration levels up to 4G.

The company cites the following costs, which total 15,760 euros ($A24,818) for European buyers, according to the company blog.

  • Elevator set: 900 euros
  • Wheels and tires: 4500 euros
  • Arch extension: 4760 euros
  • Roof price 2900 euros
  • Lamp (PIAA V-RF40): 900 euros
  • Driving light (PIAA 550): 1800 euros installed

Based near Munich, Delta4x4 has been in business for over 40 years. It offers packages for other vehicles such as the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Sprinter and X-Class, Mitsubishi Triton/L200, Volkswagen Amarok, Ford Ranger, Jeep Wrangler and even Porsche Macan.

The company took on customers like a “well-off agronomist from the Swiss Alps who wanted his Mercedes G redesigned to run on crawler tracks, so he could climb his mountain cabin at nearly 3,000m – regardless of the whims of nature.”
