“Give the Man of the Match to Mitchell Marsh or we’ll riot!” – RCB fans sarcastically thank the Australian star for his poor shot at IPL 2022
Mitchell Marsh’s first outing for Delhi Capital (DC) no one to remember because his side lost Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 16 runs.
The all-rounder of Australia is the Best Player of the World Cup 2021 T20 final. He was also bought by DC for a whopping 6.5 crores INR, hoping to fill the gap left by Shreyas Iyer in 3rd place.
However, Mitchell Marsh was only able to score 14 out of 24 deliveries. In the end it proved to be the difference as DC could have felt they had a goal within their reach.
Fans on Twitter were disappointed to see Marsh perform so poorly despite his reputation as a match winner. Some RCB fans trolled him by thanking him for paying the Capital two points. Here are some reactions:
Mitchell Marsh struggles increase pressure on Warner, Pant
Pursuing 190 to win, Capitals got off to a good start. Despite missing Prithvi Shaw’s strike in the power game, David Warner had a great touch. Warner hit the RCB bowlers and established a good foundation for DC to build on their chase.
Marsh, on the other end, looked rusty and struggled to turn the attack. One could argue that Marsh’s poor hit rate pushed Warner to extra risk and resulted in the latter losing his club.
Rishabh Pant rolls out all the guns blazing and looks determined to win the game for DC. However, the Capitals got lost in the chase after losing several roosters. Pant also started with a beautiful one-handed catch from Virat Kohli.
Shardul Thakur and Axar Patel played a few hits to keep the Capitals on the game but RCB archers managed to complete another impressive win.
