GM offers retroactive discount on new Chevy Bolt EV models purchased in 2022
General Motors is retroactively discounting Chevrolet Bolt EV models purchased in 2022, refunding owners who purchased their vehicles before the massive sale announced a month ago.
First reported by Automotive News (registration required), GM will return eligible buyers up to $6,000, in line with Discount applies to 2023 Bolt EV, which reduced the base price of that model to $26,595 including destination fees. The 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV gets a $6,300 discount, lowering the base price to $28,195 at destination.
GM will refund owners of 2020-2022 Bolt EVs, though it’s unclear if all owners will receive the full $6,000. And the cashback program does not apply to Bolt EV leases.
2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV
A few weeks ago we reported on Additional GM . offers to get the new 2022 and 2021 Bolt EV and EUV models for the same price as the new 2023 models. But this is an added perk — and it’s rare to see something like this applied retroactively. Some may find the bonus also beneficial to any resale value adjustment resulting from the price drop.
Admittedly, this retroactive discount will likely apply to only a small number of customers. Automotive News reported that Chevy only sold 358 Bolt EVs in the first quarter of 2022. Second quarter figures were not available at the time of publication, but they are likely similar.
Production of the Bolt EV has been suspended for a large part of the past year. As one battery related recall In regards to every Bolt EV produced, it has held several 2021 and even 2020 models already at the dealership.
2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV
The Bolt EV has been updated for the 2022 model year, and also sees the addition of the Bolt EUV variant to the lineup. The price drop and the new Redline Edition for the Bolt EUV are the only changes for 2023.
The 2023 model year price adjustment — and a series of discounts on older Bolt EV models — gets things right ahead of the arrival of the new Bolt EV. 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EVdue to start around $30,000.
