GM: Vikings expect Kirk Cousins to be QB for the 2023 season
For better or for worse, it looks like Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins is going nowhere this season.
“We expect that he will be our quarterback,” Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said of Cousins on Wednesday, every Kevin Seifert by ESPN. “I can’t say exactly how things will turn out. We have everything at our disposal. We’ll look at all of that like we’ll do with the others on the list.”
Adofo-Mensah Has been approved work in Minnesota last winter and after Signed Cousins to a contract extension, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefterlowered the midfielder’s salary cap this past season and kept it the same permission stick with the organization through the 2023 campaign. The 34-year-old could theoretically sign a new extension to lower his cap again and secure him more money face after he helped Minnesota win the NFC North title with a 13-4 record.
The regular cousins are a divisive figure among fans and even analysts. Just last month, he introduce was “generally rated as low” by analysts across the league.
GAME The stats show that Cousins finished the regular season in fourth place with 4,547 passing yards and in fifth place with 29 touches in the air. He is also 23rd with a total QBR of 50.0 and only two midfielders made more interceptions than Cousins (14) in the regular game of the season.
The Cousins completed 31 of 39 273-yard passes and two touchdowns in last Sunday’s wild card playoff loss to the New York Giants. However, many will remember his performance for what has proven to be questionable fourth decision that ended Minnesota’s hopes of at least injury time.
